Meet the three of us.
This is Michael, the best person I know. He’s the guy in charge, the one Jake and I go to for answers about just about anything. As a little boy, he was known to take things apart just so he could see how they worked. Still like that today, he loves things that go fast. He single-handedly built an addition that doubled the size of our home. He loves to study economics and talk about a lot of stuff that flies over my head. Did I mention I love him?
Meet Jake, Mr. Inquisitive. We were married 13 years and convinced we wouldn’t have kids when I became pregnant. He’s a 50-50 blend of the two of us. He rides his dirtbike and writes in his journal with equal passion. When he was two, we worried about when he would start talking. At five, we sometimes beg him for a moment of silence. He’s always the extrovert, ready to make a new friend.
Then there’s me. I love to write about everything - except myself. I have a very technical job, but have found a creative outlet in blogging, photography and designing. After years of trying to get pregnant, we decided to be happy where we were. Within six months, I was pregnant. I’m still a little in shock when Jake calls me “mom”. But becoming a mom has been the best thing that ever happened to me.
Why I blog
I started blogging in 2002 when Jake was born. It was so new, and for me, a fun way to share photos with family and friends. I’ve always loved to journal, but a little shy about putting myself “out there”. Recently, I started reading the blogs of other moms, and realized there was a whole world I’ve been missing. It’s been so cool to connect with people all over the world from my living room.
I often wonder what medium everyone will be using to communicate when Jake is an adult. Will the internet become the 8 track of the 70’s? For now, this is my way of leaving my little footprint on the world.
I’d love to meet you!
We make three.
